Natural Remedies for Vertigo

One of these is a paste mix that you drink. To prepare the paste, soak 8 almonds, 8 watermelon seeds, 2 tbs. of wheat grain, and 1 tbs. of poppy seeds in some water until they are soft and grind them up. You can use either a grinder or food processor for this process. Then you fry 2 cloves in 1 teaspoon of ghee (a type of clarified butter you can find in most health food stores) and add them to the paste along with some milk. Drink this concoction every day for a week.

      Another home remedy uses 1 tsp. of gooseberry powder (can be found in stores that sell ingredients for Indian cuisine) and 1 tsp. of coriander seeds. Mix them together and soak overnight in enough water to cover all the ingredients (about a cup). The next morning, strain the mixture, add 1/2 tsp. of sugar, and drink.

    Diet

    • Along with home remedies, you might find that certain vitamins and herbs can help vertigo. Some of these include Ginkgo biloba, powdered ginger, vinpocetine and vitamin B6. A healthy diet can also help with vertigo. Make sure you stay hydrated by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, especially since dehydration can cause dizziness. Eat a balanced diet. You might try adding a bit of lime or lemon peel to your salad. since some claim it helps in reducing the spinning sensation associated with vertigo. If you can, you should also cut out fried food, chocolate, caffeine, and extra salt.

    Other Natural Suggestions

    • Some other helpful hints you might try when you are experiencing vertigo are to stay focused, avoid jerky movements and try therapeutic techniques. When you feel an attack of vertigo coming on, focus on something stationary like a building. Doing so will send signals to the brain that will help you get your balance and stop the dizzy sensation. If you are prone to vertigo, it's best to steer clear of amusement park rides and virtual reality games. You should also avoid bending your head back while looking up (like you often do when you are getting your hair washed in a salon) since this type of movement can bring on an attack. In addition, chiropractic treatment can sometimes be beneficial, especially if your vertigo is related to neck trauma. Deep breathing exercises and meditation can be helpful in alleviating vertigo symptoms as can lying down, closing your eyes, and getting fresh air.
