Stockyard City Ghosts

My interest in local haunted locations brought me to Langston's Western Wear, a business in the historic "Stockyard City" of Oklahoma. I read online about several hauntings over the decades in this 100-year-old building and decided I wanted to see it for myself.

One day while out with a friend, we stopped by the store to interview employees and the manager was kind enough to take us on a tour. We walked through the upstairs where we were told a famous murder had occurred.

According to the myth, a woman was killed in the upstairs of the building by a jealous boyfriend, and her sister committed suicide not long after the ordeal.

The employees at the store had mixed emotions. Some didn't believe while others were frightened to go upstairs due to the feelings they get while up there. The most well-known story of ghost activity is a woman being pushed down the stairs. An older gentleman we interviewed said he would hear phantom footsteps behind him when he was alone up there.

A young woman at the store witnessed a box being moved on its own and a general feeling of not being wanted upstairs. One manager thought we were silly to be investigating but I did overhear him say he would have to come to the store in the middle of the night to turn the alarm off due to something always setting it off.

While upstairs, we recorded our walk through on our phones. For a moment, I did complain of having a feeling of nausea come over me. When I reviewed my video footage, I was surprised at what I saw, and it may corroborate the stories of maliciousness coming from the spirits upstairs.

I analyzed my video frame by frame and I caught images of something out of the ordinary. In the video, I was at the end of one of the hallways and turned around to walk back from the end of the hall. I passed by a door, which would have taken two seconds. For some reason I reacted to something and said, "Oh God" in a scared tone. When I looked at the video from that moment, I found what looked like a floating face in the room that I reacted to unknowingly.

I blew up the image and found a fully formed face. I could see the retinas of the eyes clearly and a large open mouth. This face was looking right at me and it wasn't happy. It looked like a black man and I could clearly see he had one tooth missing.

When I showed the pictures to my friend who was with me, he pointed out that there is also another face in the same photo before I blew the image up! It appears to be a female face on the bottom right of the picture. You can see a head and hair, and most scary of all, a large open mouth full of sharp teeth screaming at me.

It gives me chills to write this because of how damn demonic this thing looked. There could be more evidence, but I know for a fact that I captured two faces that were both yelling at me and that is very unsettling because nobody was in that room when I passed it.

So could these be the ghosts of the two sisters and the lover that killed one of them? Are they trapped in this building or could it be something more sinister? The feeling I get from this whole experience was that something evil is residing in that building. I have made it my personal quest to find answers and I'm slowly making progress.
