June 2010 - Taylor Lautner's Jacob and Robert Pattinson's Edward are rivals for the love of Kristen Stewart's Bella in The Twilight Saga, making them onscreen enemies. But in real life, Lautner finds it hard to hate Robert Pattinson. Squaring off against him in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was made all the more difficult as Lautner is truly good friends with his onscreen rival.
"I had a scene or two in New Moon where I was able to work with Rob, and I was really excited to work with him for Eclipse.

The hardest thing I found about working with Rob is I usually have to hit him in the scenes, and it is difficult. He is such a funny, nice guy. It is literally like we are doing a scene where we are yelling and screaming at each other, and he is slapping my shoulder and I’m shoving him off me. We are screaming. We are spitting in each other’s faces. Then as soon as they call, 'Cut,' we just bust out laughing. It is really hard to be mean to Rob."

Lautner's grown really close to his two Twilight co-stars, and that makes working on the huge franchise with all of its pressures and attention from fans and the paparazzi so much easier. "Definitely. It means everything to me. I can’t imagine filming this franchise if the whole cast wasn’t so close of friends. It would be a nightmare. Rob, Kristen, and myself are really close. It helps a lot."

"When you are filming you can be open and honest with each other, you can discuss things, and it just makes the filming process a lot easier and then promoting.

Even when we aren’t even doing anything, when we just hang out on the weekends. It is great. They are incredible people. Very talented. We will definitely maintain our friendship for a very long time past this franchise. It is extremely important to me."
