How to Attach an MP3 Player to a Stereo With a Single Audio Plug

    • 1). Insert one end of the cable into the headphone jack on your MP3 player.

    • 2). Insert the other end of the cable into the AUX input jack on your receiver. Note that you should not insert the cable into the headphone jack on your receiver, as that is an output jack.

    • 3). Change the source input on your receiver to the "AUX" setting. The method for changing inputs will vary depending upon your receiver, but is typically a dial or button.

    • 4). Turn on your MP3 player and select a song to play it through your stereo. You may need to increase the volume on your MP3 player if it was at a low level, but additional volume adjustments should be made on the receiver.
