The Land Before Time: The Wisdom of Friends - Overview

Littlefoot has safety on his mind as he learns and practices "the wisdoms," tips that his grandmother teaches him for staying safe and making wise decisions. When Littlefoot and his friends meet two goofy yellow-bellied dinos, Loofah and Doofah (voiced by Cuba Gooding Jr.

and Sandra Oh), Littlefoot is convinced that the two will never make it without his sage advice.

Littlefoot and his friends embark on a journey to guide Loofah and Doofah to their herd and their ultimate destination, Berry Valley. Along the way, Littlefoot and his friends learn that the yellow-bellies might not be as bad off as they thought. In fact, Littlefoot and the others might even learn a thing or two from them.

The Land Before Time: The Wisdom of Friends - Guide Review

Like other DVDs from The Land Before Time series, The Wisdom of Friends features colorful animation and adorable dinosaur friends. As they grow up together, the young dinos learn valuable lessons about life and friendship. In The Wisdom of Friends Littlefoot and the others see the importance of making safe decisions and how the sage advice of their elders really applies in real life.

The DVD is targeted toward preschoolers, but a couple of scenes involve some scary animated dinosaurs that may frighten or unsettle some small children the first time they see the movie.

None of the characters are hurt by the mean dinos, but they find themselves in perilous situations a couple of times.

The movie also contains some imitative behavior that kids may pick up on. One of the dino friends, Cera, is very grumpy and often complains about various things throughout the adventure. Also, the young dinos embark on their adventure without telling the grownups where they are going. In the end, though, the dinos learn that telling grownups where they are going is an important wisdom that they should not have neglected. The movie ends by delivering an overall positive message about being wise and also about seeing the wisdom in others.
