- 1). Unplug the waffle maker, and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- 2). Wipe away any oil that remains on the baking plate with a dry paper towel.
- 3). Brush crumbs from the plate with a soft toothbrush or soft-bristle brush.
- 4). Remove stuck-on batter with a rubber spatula. Knives or metal scrappers scratch non-stick surfaces.
- 5). Wipe the plate with a damp paper towel, and allow the surface to dry before storing.
- 6). Clean the exterior with a damp cloth, and use a dry cloth to dry.
- 1). Unplug the iron, and allow the waffle plates to cool before attempting to clean.
- 2). Brush crumbs off the plate with a toothbrush, and wipe excess oil off with a clean cloth.
- 3). Avoid washing or soaking the plate in water. Washing and soaking removes the seasoned finish from cast iron.
- 4). Apply cooking oil to the plate surface as needed to prevent waffles from sticking.
