iRobot Directions

    Vacuum the Floor

    • 1). Plug the power plug into the iRobot's "Battery Charger Socket" located on the side of the device, or into the Home Base's "Battery Charger Socket." Plug the other end of the power plug into the power outlet. If charging the Home Base, push the iRobot into the base. Allow the iRobot to fully charge for up to 16 hours if this is the first time charging the device. After that, it will take three hours to charge. The battery light glows solid green on the iRobot when the battery is fully charged.

    • 2). Place the iRobot Roomba "Home Base" flat on the floor, and push the iRobot into it. Make sure the front of the iRobot is facing forward. The iRobot must also have a clear path to return to the base at the end of the cleaning cycle.

    • 3). Select a cleaning mode button on the iRobot Roomba or its remote control. Press the "Clean Mode" button to allow the iRobot to calculate the room size, press "Spot Mode" to allow the iRobot to spiral around and create a working surface area that is three feet in diameter, or hit "Max Mode" to force the machine to run until the battery is depleted.

    • 4). Allow the iRobot to clean. It will automatically leave the base, vacuum the floor according to the cleaning mode and return back to the base.

    Schedule a Cleaning

    • 1). Open the "Scheduler Remote Control" cover. The display will read "Set Time." The Scheduler Remote Control is different from the iRobot remote.

    • 2). Press both the "New/Save" and "Delete" buttons simultaneously.

    • 3). Press the "+" button to change the day. Press the right arrow icon button to move to the "Hour" field. Press the "+" button to change the hour. To select "AM" or "PM", scroll past 12:00. Press the right arrow again to navigate to the minute field. Press the "+" key to select the minute.

    • 4). Press the right arrow icon button to select the "Once/Weekly" field. Use the "+" button to select "Once" or "Weekly." Press "New/Save."

    Clean the iRobot

    • 1). Lay the iRobot face up on the floor or table.

    • 2). Press the "Bin Release" button under the iRobot logo. Pull the bin to release it, and empty the bin in the trash receptacle.

    • 3). Pull out the filter in the filter compartment. The filter compartment is visible once the bin is removed. Run water over the filter until it is clean. Place the filter on a paper towel and allow it to dry completely before replacing in the iRobot. Place the filter in the filter compartment and place the bin back in the iRobot. Replace the filter every two months with a new one.

    • 4). Turn the iRobot Roomba over and press down on both yellow tabs on the brush cage every three to five cleanings. Lift up the brush cage and pull out the bristle and flexible brushes. Pull off the brush caps, or bearings, from each side of the brush and inspect for hair or other debris and remove it using your fingers. Use scissors to cut away hair or thread wrapped around the brushes, and use the Roomba cleaning tool to comb hair from the brush bristles.
