- 1). Spray the slate with a combination of half warm water and half white vinegar from a spray bottle, and allow the solution to sit for a moment. The acidity of the vinegar helps break up the rubber so it comes off with some friction.
- 2). Scrub at the rubber scuffs with a scrubbing sponge. The slate is durable enough that the sponge won't scratch it. Use a nylon brush for stubborn scuffs but avoid metal brushes or steel wool.
- 3). Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto any stubborn scuffs, add some hot water and scrub with a scrub brush to remove any remaining rubber. Rinse the slate with regular water and dry with a towel afterward.
