- 1). Disconnect power to the pool pump by unplugging the electrical cord. This will prevent electrical shock while you're working on the pool’s plumbing system.
- 2). Open the filter using a wrench to unscrew each bolt located on the top of the filter. Lift the filter top off the tank. The filters are connected to the top of the filter.
- 3). Fill a plastic bucket with two gallons of water. For each gallon of water, one cup of muriatic acid is needed. So add two cups of muriatic acid to the water.
- 4). Rinse the fingers with a garden hose to remove any excess dirt and debris. Then place the top of the filter into the bucket until the fingers are submerged. Allow the fingers to soak for 20 minutes.
- 5). Remove the top of the tank from the bucket and rinse the fingers with the garden hose. The fingers are now cleaned of any dirt, debris and algae. Place the top of the filter back onto the tank and secure each bolt. The filter is now ready to be primed and used.
