Pour baking soda over the site of the grape stain and allow it to sit and absorb the liquid from the stain while you gather other cleaning supplies. Vacuum the baking soda from the carpet if it becomes saturated with the grape liquid and apply a fresh application. Allow the baking soda to sit on the stain for 10 minutes, then remove with the vacuum.

    • 2). Combine 2 cups warm water and 1 tbsp. mild hand dish washing liquid in a bowl. Stir the mixture with your fingers to create soap suds. Dip a clean sponge into the soapy solution and squeeze out the excess.

Blot at the grape stains from the outside of the stain, toward the middle. Dip the sponge into the soap solution frequently, then continue to blot at the grape stain until no more grape stain transfers to the sponge.

    • 4). Stir 1 tbsp. ammonia into 2 cups warm water and mix well. Wet the sponge with the diluted ammonia solution and dab at the remaining grape stain on the carpet. Continue to dab at the stain until it has lifted completely.

    • 5). Wet a clean cloth with plain, cool water. Wipe at the site of the grape stains to remove the cleaning solutions.

    • 6). Press clean, dry cloths into the carpet to remove as much moisture as possible. If the carpet is very wet, remove the moisture with a wet vacuum, then allow the carpet to air dry.
