How to Weigh Cardboard for Recycling

    • 1). Keep your cardboard dry and also free of food residue and waste products.

    • 2). Prepare cardboard boxes for recycling by removing any foreign materials, including bubble or plastic wrap, newspaper or polystyrene peanuts.

    • 3). Break down your boxes with a box cutter and lay the sheets in one- to two-foot stacks, with the largest pieces at the bottom of each stack.

    • 4). Weigh the individual stacks on your digital platform scale.

    • 5). Keep a running tally of each stack’s weight until you’ve weighed your final stack.
