- 1). Pick out as much of the hard candy from the carpet as possible. Put on a pair of plastic gloves to keep your hand from getting sticky.
- 2). Heat the candy with a hairdryer. Place the dryer on high and hold it a few inches from the carpet. Don’t hold it close enough to scorch the carpet fibers.
- 3). Pry the softened candy from the carpet with a metal spoon or knife. Use your hands, as well, to pull the softened red candy from the floor.
- 4). Mix 1/4 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap that is formulated to break down grease with 2 cups warm water in a bowl or bucket. Dip a cleaning cloth into the liquid mixture.
- 5). Press the dampened white cleaning cloth onto the red stain left on the carpet. Let it sit for several minutes to allow the cleaning solution to soak into the stain.
- 6). Turn an iron on the lowest setting and press it onto the cloth. Leave it there for 30 to 60 seconds and then remove the heat. The red dye will lift off the carpet onto the cloth.
- 7). Use a clean section of the cloth and set the warm iron on it again. Repeat this until you remove all the red color from the carpet.
- 8). Rub the area with another cleaning cloth dampened with the dishwashing solution to clean any residual dirt left by the candy.
