How to Trim a Dead Bamboo Stalk

    • 1). Locate the dead stalks that you need to remove from the bamboo plant. They are brownish with a broken appearance.

    • 2). Use the pruning scissors to carefully cut off any dead stalks that are smaller then 1/2 inch thick. Cut these smaller dead stalks back to the node closest to the ground.

    • 3). Use the pruning shears to cut off the stalks that are thicker than 1/2 inch. Cut these close to the base of the plant too, to the node closest to the ground.
