- 1). Scoop up as much of the slime mold as possible with a shovel. Immediately dump the slime mold into a garbage bag.
- 2). Rake the redwood chips to break up any mold growth that you couldn't pick up with your shovel. This will disperse the mold growths and will help prevent them from growing back.
- 3). Spray water onto the mold growth if you can still see it. The force of the water will help loosen the mold growth. Be careful not to power wash delicate plants. Spray it on a sunny day to ensure that it dries quickly.
- 4). Shovel all of the redwood chips into a pile if you can still see the mold.
- 5). Soak the pile with water. This will encourage microorganism growth that will heat the pile and kill the rest of the mold spores. This process could take up to several days. Leave the pile alone during this time.
- 6). Redistribute the redwood chips.
