- 1). Unplug the router and place it on a flat surface with the power cord side facing you.
- 2). Raise the clamp lever. The lever will be located on the left side of the router. Move the motor as far outward as it will go. Lower the clamp back into the locked position to keep the motor positioned in place.
- 3). Place the router upside down on a flat surface with the power cord facing away from you. Remove the clear plastic chip deflector by pressing in the tabs on its sides.
- 4). Remove the collet wrench from the base of the router. Slide the wrench out of the base using your finger.
- 5). Press the spindle lock using your thumb. The spindle lock is located on the right side near the collet nut.
- 6). Loosen the collet nut using the collet wrench. Remove the router bit from the router. Insert a new bit into the router as far a possible. Pull the bit out one-sixteenth of an inch. Tighten the collet nut using the wrench.
- 7). Place the wrench back into the base of the router. Install the clear deflector back onto the base. Press the spindle lock to disengage it.
