Maytag Jet Clean Dishwasher Maintenance

    Prepare

    • Before starting maintenance on any electrical appliance, be sure to first disconnect the power source. Once you have done this, you will need to access the parts that need maintenance. To access the water valve of a Maytag Jetclean, remove the screws from the top panel and both sides of the front support panel. Here, you will also find the thermostat, the motor and the float switch assembly. Once disassembled, remove the Torx screw that connects the pump to the dishwasher's frame and examine it and all other parts for buildup and foreign objects.

    Checking the Motor Assembly

    • Before proceeding, remove the racks from inside the dishwasher and flex the manifold clips. The manifold extends along the top and back of the dishwasher. While pushing the bottom back end of the manifold, pull the top part forward to dislodge it from the dishwasher. At this point, loosen the pivot and wash arm hub, remove the spray arm and disassemble the filter guard by removing the 3 Torx screws. Finally, remove the wash motor and disassemble for cleaning. Once this is done, check the motor assembly by listening for scraping or squealing sounds; these indicate that debris is present. It is always a good idea to keep track of the disassembling process by writing down the steps if you are not using a Maytag Jetclean manual.

    Completing the Maintenance Process

    • After the motor assembly has been serviced, you can proceed to the wash arm and spray arm. Clear blocked holes and replace cracked or damaged parts. Inspect the door seal closely--normal wear and tear can cause it to occasionally leak, so it may be necessary to replace it at this point. Finally, be observant and listening for odd sounds and unfamiliar screeches and squeals. An occasionally squirt of WD-40 may be required on certain metal parts when the appliance is dry and not in use. Replace all parts in the same manner and order in which you disassembled them.
