- Scrape away as much of the wax as possible with a butter knife or similar item. Place a paper bag or cloth over the stain, and turn an iron on low heat. Place the iron on top of the paper bag or cloth and move back and forth slowly. This will cause the wax to melt and re-adhere to the cloth or bag instead of the carpet. Repeat as needed, using clean sections of cloth or paper towel each time. This will remove all of the wax, but a small grease stain may remain. In this case, dust the stain with baking soda, let sit for a few hours or overnight and then vacuum to collect the baking soda and the stain will be removed. This also works well for stains on upholstered furniture.
For wax spills on clothing, repeat the same ironing process, then launder as usual to remove any remaining residue. - It is easy to remove spilled wax from these surfaces by softening the wax. Use a hair dryer on low heat to slightly melt the wax, wiping up the wax as it melts with a paper towel or old cloth. Repeat as needed until all wax has been removed. If any wax remains, mix white vinegar in a dish with one part vinegar to two parts water. Dab a paper towel or cloth in the solution and rub over the stain until it has disappeared.
- Wax can sometimes spill into candle holders as well. In this case, it is best to harden the wax as much as possible. Place it in the freezer for a few hours and then use a butter knife or similar utensil to pop the hardened wax out of the candle holder. All of the wax should easily remove in one piece. Rinse with warm water and dish soap to remove any remaining residue.
