- 1). Make notes of what your roommate has done to violate your property or person. If she steals your things or yells at you, write these actions down.
- 2). Get a copy of the lease agreement if you do not already have one. Make highlights of things that your roommate has done in violation of the lease agreement. For example, your lease agreement may have a clause about verbal abuse or a clause about violations of property.
- 3). Refine the list you made of things your roommate has done in violation of the lease agreement. Make a second list that contains things of which you could get hard evidence.
- 4). Compile the evidence. This can be done by making audio recordings, video surveillance with a webcam, or by using other methods of gathering evidence.
- 5). Send the evidence to the landlord with a politely written, professional letter detailing your complaints. Make references to the violations of the lease agreement. Explain that you believe that the violations your roommate has made are actionable with eviction.
