- Watching your child suffer from teething pain is one of the most heartbreaking sights for a new parent. Teething pains lead to refusing food, development of facial rashes due to excessive drool and sleepless nights for both baby and parents. By far one of the most popular over the counter products to ease teething pain is Baby Orajel®. However, considering that Benzocaine, the active ingredient in Baby Orajel®, is also the active ingredient in Durex Condoms and Vagisil, some mothers understandably have a strong objection to treating their children's teething pain with such a harsh chemical. An all natural and quite possibly a more effective alternative to Baby Orajel® is Humphreys Teething Pellets®. Humphreys Teething Pellets® are formulated specifically to treat the aches and pains associated with teething pain and are made up of only natural ingredients (Chamomile, Coffea Cruda, Belladona and Calcarea Phosphorica) and treat direct teething pain, gum inflammation and restlessness. Humphreys Teething Pellets® are available for purchase in health food stores and in some supermarkets and drugstores (see References).
- Toothaches have many causes. However, some extremely common causes of toothaches are ear and sinus infections, cavities, gum disease and over-consumption of sweets. When you are experiencing a severe toothache, you want a product that will be readily available and will provide immediate relief. However, many products that claim to provide immediate relief may take up to 30 minutes to be effective. One product that has been around for decades and has been proven to provide instantaneous relief is Anbesol®. As with Orajel, the active ingredient in Anbesol is Benzocaine. However, fully developed adult bodies are far more tolerant of such a substance. Anbesol® comes in the forms of liquid, gel and the potencies of maximum and regular strength. Anbesol is readily available in most food and drugstores.
- Denture pain is encountered when "breaking in" new dentures and when wearing ill-fitting dentures. If your dentures are molded properly, you should never feel more than an infrequent mild discomfort. Applying general toothache medicine won't do much to make your pain subside as the pain is being caused by your dentures and not your actual teeth; in order to effectively treat denture pain, you need denture-specific medication. Benzodent® is a denture-specific medicine that provides relief to the gums and is approved by the American Dental Association. Benzodent is available for purchase in pharmacies and some health, drug and food stores.
