- 1). View what you want to add to your background music to. Make notes of where the music needs to be louder, as well as softer. Also make notes of how loud the music needs to be. For example: very loud, or just slightly loud. Do the same where the volume needs to be decreased.
- 2). Go to "All Programs" on your PC and select "Windows Movie Maker." Click "File," and select "Import into Collections." Browse for the file that you want to add background music to. When you have found and selected your file, click the "Import" button. The file will appear in the main Windows Movie Maker window.
- 3). Drag all the individual files, in sequence, into the "Storyboard" at the bottom of the screen. Play it through to check that everything is in the correct order.
- 4). Click again on "File" and then on "Import into Collections." This time, select your background music file. Drag this into the file imported earlier, which is already on the "Storyboard." Place your file where you want your background music to begin. Play the "Storyboard" through. To raise the volume of the background music file, click on it in the "Storyboard." Find and click "Set Audio Levels," which is on the far left above the "Storyboard." This will open up "Audio Levels." Move the slider to the right to increase volume levels and then click on the "x" in the top right corner to close the window. Play the "Storyboard" through again. When you are happy with the volume levels and feel that no changes need to be made, save your file.
- 5). Give your file a name and find the place you want to save the file on the computer. Click "Next." You will see the "Movie Setting." It will say "Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)". Again, click "Next." Your movie will then be saved. Click "Finish," and the movie will play, with your background music added.
