- 1). Sketch a diagram of what you envision the lampshade to look like when you are finished decorating. Use this sketch as a blueprint as you beautify the shade.
- 2). Consider the color scheme of the room the lampshade will be used in. Choose decorating items that will match with the general color of the room.
- 3). Wrap an old silk scarf around the center of the lampshade and tie it into a bow. You can find beautiful varieties of scarves at thrift stores and rummage sales. Grandma may even have a selection for you to choose from.
- 4). Cut two pieces of wispy yarn that measure the diameter of the top of the lampshade and the bottom of the lampshade.
- 5). Apply glue to the top ridge of the lampshade and attach one piece of wispy yarn so that it covers the diameter of the top of the lampshade. Be cafeful not to burn your fingers on the glue. Apply the glue a few inches at a time so that it does not dry before the yarn is attached. Gently press the yarn into the shade to ensure it adheres well.
- 6). Repeat step 5 for the diameter of the bottom ridge of the shade.
- 7). Apply flat back gems with hot glue so that they spell out the girl's name when finished.
