Turning 16 is a milestone birthday, especially for girls who are turning the "sweet 16," and it's often celebrated with a party. Make your sweet 16's birthday party more special and sweet compared to past birthday parties. Serve sweet treats and go all out, such as with a limo ride, a professional photography session or a hotel slumber party. - Purchase 16 different types of chocolates and include at least one for everyone. Include white chocolates, chocolate truffles, chocolate fudge, raspberry chocolates, milk chocolates, caramel chocolates and dark chocolates. Have blind taste tests to see which chocolates are preferred. Serve chocolates at various times over the course of the party so the girls do not eat too much at one time. For instance, serve chocolate-covered candies as everyone arrives, followed later by chocolate fudge and still later by chocolate truffles.
- Rent a limo for the guest of honor and her friends to take a ride, even if it's just around town. If the party is being held away from home, the limo can transport them to and from the party. Stock the limo with sodas and sparkling cider and a favorite snack, such as chocolate or an assortment of bagged chips.
- Hire a professional photographer to come to the party. Have him conduct a photography session with the birthday girl and her friends. Beforehand, the girls can make each other over to prepare for the shoot. On the party invitation, mention that guests should wear or bring their favorite outfits and matching jewelry, and should bring their own makeup for the makeover. Have on hand a curling iron, bobby pins, hairspray and other essentials for doing the hair.
- Hold the party at a local restaurant or party room that is part of or near a hotel. Rent a room in the hotel for the guest of honor and her closest friends--usually up to three--to spend the night afterward. Most hotels have movie rentals available directly on the television, so let the girls watch a movie. Stay in a hotel with adjoining rooms so you can stay in the next room, which may be a hotel requirement if none of the girls are 18 or older.
