How to Rid a House of Roaches & Eggs

    • 1). Combine 3/4 cup of bleach with 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket. Use paper towels dipped in the bleach solution to clean floors, countertops, bathroom areas and all other hard surfaces. Change to a clean paper towel each time you need more bleach solution in order to avoid spreading roach dust around.

    • 2). Throw away used paper towels in a garbage bag. Roach dust can have a severe affect on anyone in the family with asthma.

Vacuum carpeting, furniture and rugs with a vacuum that has a HEPA filter. Vacuuming helps remove possible food sources for roaches, as well as roach dust and eggs.

    • 4). Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around baseboards, pet food areas, inside lower cabinets and anywhere that roaches have been seen at floor level. Diatomaceous earth kills roaches by cutting their exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate, but it's completely safe around children and pets.

    • 5). Place borax powder up higher to kill roaches. Sprinkle some on top of cabinets, behind kitchen appliances and inside top cupboards.

    • 6). Set roach bait traps in highly populated roach areas, out of the reach of children and pets. The bait substance poisons the cockroach and once the cockroach dies and is consumed by other roaches, they are also affected by the poison.
