Patients who suffer from heart-related health problems--such as cardiomyopathies, blockages or congestive heart failure--often encounter financial issues, in part because of their decreased ability to work. A number of non-profit organizations provide grants to cardiac patients and to those with a history of heart disease. These grants help recipients receive the care and assistance they need while they concentrate on healing and improving their health. - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, provides home-improvement grants to low-income individuals and those with debilitating health conditions, such as certain heart ailments. The housing grants may be used to build house additions to help make a home more wheelchair-friendly or accessible for those with mobility issues. Applicants must submit proof of a relevant health condition, as well as documents to support proof of identity and economic need.

lkcf.org - Helping Healing Hearts was founded by a former cardiac patient who saw the need for programs to assist those who are suffering from cardiac diseases, both during and after treatment. The non-profit organization finances programs through individual grants for services such as cardiac care, counseling and weekly support groups, and gym memberships for those who suffer from heart disease. All grants are made possible by private and government donations received by Helping Healing Hearts.
