Are You Squeezing Your Subscribers Too Hard?

So you've spent a lot of time and effort in building your list to a respectable level.
You're probably very happy with yourself that you were able to achieve such a goal, as most people find it very difficult to get people to sign up for a newsletter.
Now that you have a list what are you going to do with it?It's true that the money is in the list, but this saying could really be refined to be the money is in a well maintained list.
If you don't treat your subscribers right they are going to do one of two things.
They will either unsubscribe never to be seen again or they will simply ignore your messages altogether.
It does absolutely no good to have a large list of subscribers if none of them are going to read what you write.
In order for your list to be beneficial it needs to be responsive and therefore you need to treat it right from the start.
Some people tend to blast out ad after ad to their list without ever giving them anything to really look at.
Sure, they may get great open rates because of some clever subject lines, but the majority of the time the message will simply get skimmed over and may only attract an occasional click.
In essence, these people are squeezing the life out of their list.
If you want to have a responsive list, and be successful in your Internet marketing, then you need to learn not to squeeze your subscribers too hard.
You need to talk to them as though you were talking to your best friend.
Be casual in your e-mails but not overly chatty as this may make them uncomfortable as well.
Don't write to your list as though you were writing to a lot of people.
You should think of your subscribers as being a group of individuals, and each of those subscribers should read your e-mails as though you wrote to them alone.
How can you maintain this delicate of a balance? You need to be honest with your subscribers.
If something is going on in your life that is worthy of conversation then mention it to them.
If you have a list about gardening and you love the new garden rake that you just bought and tell them about it.
Don't be afraid to put a link to a product in your e-mail, just be genuine when you discuss it with your list.
Don't make every e-mail that you sent them a pitch fest.
When you are able to successfully walk that fine line, you will find that your readers will wait for your e-mail.
If you are late in sending one out you may even find that some of them will e-mail you to check and see if everything is okay.
By giving them light conversation and honest opinion along with some genuine helpful advice you will be turning your list into a tool that will serve you for a very long time.
