- 1). Lift the hood of the vehicle. Disconnect the grounding cable from the vehicle's battery. The grounding cable connects the battery (negative terminal) with the frame of the vehicle for the purpose of grounding the electrical system. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the clamp that connects the cable to the terminal lead. Move the cable away from the battery until the CD player is installed.
- 2). Gather the stereo wiring in the back of the stereo-mounting dock. Separate the two wiring connectors for the signal and power supply (respectively) from the black antenna cable.
- 3). Plug the stereo-wiring connectors into a wiring-harness adapter. An adapter specific to your vehicle will be clearly marked to show which connectors attach to which harness leads.
- 4). Feed the stereo wiring and antenna cable through the faceplate adapter. Place the faceplate adapter into the vacant stereo dock. Push it into the dock until it snaps into place.
- 5). Plug the wiring-harness adapter connectors into the outlets on the back panel of the CD player. Plug the antenna cable into the FM antenna outlet on the rear of the radio. (For GM vehicles: plug the antenna cable into a GM antenna adapter. Plug the adapter into the CD player's antenna outlet.)
- 6). Slide the CD player into the faceplate adapter until it locks into place on both sides. You should hear an audible "click."
- 7). Place the grounding cable clamp back around the vehicle's negative battery terminal lead post. Tighten the grounding cable's clamp with the wrench. Close the hood of the vehicle.
