- The rod is the most visible and distinguishable part of the antenna. It is made of a thin metal alloy which provides a protective coating for OnStar's antenna cable. The rod is the conductor of your antenna, as it physically receives the OnStar satellite waves.
- The base of the OnStar antenna attaches the rod to your vehicle. Its construction is of a larger and more solid metallic alloy than the rod.
- The antenna of an OnStar system has a cable that is attached inside the base and rod. This cable distributes the data that is received from the OnStar satellites in order to perform various functions.
