- 1). Splash warm water on your face to dampen your skin. Apply a mild facial cleanser with your fingers. Rub the cleanser into your skin gently, in a circular motion.
- 2). Rinse the cleanser from your face with warm water.
- 3). Apply a thin layer of a mild face mask or scrub that targets redness and dry skin. Apply it to your face with gentle, circular motions, with as little pressure as possible. Masks promote soothing, which will reduce redness. Scrubs have grainy ingredients that remove rough, flaky skin. Use a very fine, mild scrub so that it does not aggravate redness.
- 4). Leave the mask on your skin for five to 10 minutes. Continue to rub in a face scrub with gentle, circular motions at a medium to slow speed for two to three minutes.
- 5). Wash the product off your skin with warm water.
- 6). Pat your face dry with a towel. Allow your face to dry fully with exposure to air for at least two minutes.
- 7). Pour a mild exfoliating toner onto a cotton facial pad or ball to dampen the cotton. Do not saturate the cotton entirely. Toners remove dry flakes of skin that washing is unable to lift.
- 8). Blot the damp cotton on your entire face. Brush the cotton upward in short strokes without pressure. Allow your face to dry fully through exposure to air for at least two minutes.
- 9). Squeeze a pea-sized amount of light moisturizer onto a fingertip. Dab a fingertip on your opposite hand into the dollop of moisturizer. Apply the product to your face in small, circular motions with little pressure. Use additional moisturizer, if necessary.
