How to Fix the Kodak 5100

    Power

    • 1). Unplug the power supply from the back of the Kodak 5100 as a first step to correcting a power loss problem.

    • 2). Inspect the metal receptors for grime or dirt. Clean them with a dry cleaning cloth if they are grimy, and firmly plug the power cord into the "AC In" jack in the lower left corner on the back panel of the printer.

    • 3). Inspect the cord for damage, and replace it if you see cuts or deep dents.

    • 4). Unplug the power cord from the AC wall outlet if the Kodak 5100 doesn't come on. Plug in a different electrical item to test the outlet, then plug the printer's power cord back in.

    • 5). Turn the power strip on and confirm that it's plugged into a functional outlet, if you are using a power strip.

    Bluetooth

    • 1). Turn on the Bluetooth radio of the device to be recognized by the Kodak 5100's Bluetooth technology, if the printer isn't picking up the device. If the Bluetooth radio of the external device is not activated, the printer won't be able to find it.

    • 2). Move the external device within range of the 5100's Bluetooth radio signal (within 30 feet).

    • 3). Enter a PIN number of "1111" into the sending device, if a PIN number entry is prompted by that device.

    Paper Feed

    • 1). Turn off the printer to stop the paper tray from feeding, if multiple sheets of paper are being pulled through at once.

    • 2). Take the remaining loose paper out of the tray, and fan the paper by arching it while you hold one thumb against its upper edge, and pulling back. Fanning will prevent the pages from sticking together.

    • 3). Insert the fanned paper into the paper tray, being careful not to put too much paper into the tray at once. Push "Start" to resume the printing job.

    Computer Connectivity

    • 1). Unplug the USB connection from the back of the printer (in the lower left corner), and confirm that the cord is a 2.0 USB cable, as a first step to fixing a computer connectivity problem.

    • 2). Plug the square end of the cord into the USB port on the printer, inspect the cord for tears, and unplug the flat end of the USB cord from the USB port on the computer.

    • 3). Plug a separate device into the computer's USB port to confirm proper functionality. Plug the USB cord from the printer back into the computer's USB port, confirming a snug fit.
