- 1). Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet.
- 2). Press a flathead screwdriver into the seam between the front panel and the toe panel. If you look at the front of the dryer, you will see two distinct panels. The toe panel is the smaller, bottom section. Insert the screwdriver approximately 4 inches from the left, moving towards the center. Move the tool until you feel a clip, and press down on the clip to release it. Repeat this step on the right side to release the second clip. Lift up on the toe panel and pull it towards you.
- 3). Open the dryer door and pull up on the lint screen to remove it. The lint screen sits at the bottom of the door well.
- 4). Remove the two screws on each corner of the lint duct. The lint duct is the section that holds the lint screen. One screw will be in each corner. Pull the lint duct out.
- 5). Move down to the open toe panel to access the motor and the fan housing. Remove the two screws on the outside of the fan housing. This is the rim of metal that surrounds the fan. Pull the housing off the motor.
- 6). Reach behind the motor and locate the motor shaft, a metal rod that turns. Attach a 7/8-inch open end wrench to the shaft. Turn the fan clockwise while holding the wrench. This will lock the motor shaft against the bracket to keep it from moving while you take out the fan. Leave the wrench in place while you work.
- 7). Use a 1/2-inch socket drive to remove the bolts that secure the fan. Examine the fan for directional arrows molded into the edge. Turn the bolts the direction of the arrow to loosen them. Once the bolts are off, pull the fan toward you to remove it.
