How to Cure Chemical Allergies

    • 1). Identify the cause of your allergy. You'll need to have a skin prick test done by a dermatologist to identify exactly what chemical causes your symptoms.

    • 2). Receive immunogenic therapy. This type of therapy works to desensitize your body to the allergen by exposing it to gradually increasing levels of it, until your body is able to tolerate it.

    • 3). Take antihistamines. Because many allergic reactions are mediated by a chemical in the immune system called histamine, blocking the effects of this chemical, through antihistamines, can help with curing the allergy.

    • 4). Take oral corticosteroids. If antihistamines are unable to prevent the allergic symptoms, a stronger suppression of the immune system may be required to cure the chemical allergy. Corticosteroids can be taken orally and can help prevent reactions to chemical allergens.

    • 5). Try enzyme potentiated desensitization. Although this is an experimental technique, it attempts to use low levels of the chemical along with an enzyme that helps signal to your immune system that this chemical is to be tolerated.
