How to Make an Alabama Wreath

    • 1). Remove the plastic wrapping that covers the straw wreath.

    • 2). Spread an old towel or newspapers on a flat work surface. Lay the straw wreath down on top of the covering.

    • 3). Separate the camellia blossom from the stem by using wire cutters. Cut the stem directly beneath the base of the camellia.

    • 4). Arrange all your Alabama memorabilia, such as a figurine of the state bird -- the yellow-hammer -- or other objects that represent Alabama on the work surface by size.

    • 5). Place the Alabama decor on the wreath. This helps you decide where the objects look best. It is attractive to place a large object, such as a silk camellia, next to a smaller one. Depending on the number of objects you have, leave an inch or two between each piece. Allow room for a decorative bow if you will be using one. Once you are pleased with the design, remove the pieces.

    • 6). Glue the pieces back onto the wreath with the hot glue gun. Fill in empty areas with baby's breath, silk ivy or another type of filler flower if you wish.

    • 7). Tie a coordinating bow around the wreath. Some people tie the bow on at the bottom, but many others display it at the top or to one side of the wreath.
