- 1). Put on a pair of plastic gloves.
- 2). Pour cat litter over the area covered in kerosene. Use as much litter as needed to cover the contaminated area.
- 3). Allow the cat litter to absorb the liquid for up to a half an hour. The cat litter will become wet when the kerosene is properly absorbed.
- 4). Remove the litter and top layer of soil with a shovel.
- 5). Scoop the litter and soil into a container. Seal the container.
- 6). Contact the nearest waste disposal center for instructions on how to dispose of the kerosene waste. Normally you will need to bring in the waste and drop it off at the center. A waste disposal center is a facility that disposes of hazardous waste.
