- 1). Sweep vinyl floors daily to remove dust and dirt. Leaving dirt on the vinyl floors causes it to become embedded into the floor, which gives it a dull appearance.
- 2). Dampen a mop with warm water only. Cleaning the floor with a damp mop may be all that you need to make the vinyl floors shine.
- 3). Mix 2 to 3 tbsp. of a mild liquid dish detergent with 1 gallon of warm water. Dampen the mop with the soapy water. Mop the floor to remove built up dirt and debris. Rinse the floor with a damp mop and clean water.
- 4). Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into a large bucket with 1/2 gallon of warm water. Dampen a mop with the diluted vinegar and mop the floor to make the vinyl shine again. Vinegar does not need to be rinsed from the floor.
- 5). Create a tough vinyl cleaner by combining 1 cup of white vinegar with 1/4 cup of borax in 1 gallon of warm water. Add two to three drops of baby oil to the solution to keep the floors shiny. Wring the solution out of the mop so that it remains damp and then rinse the floor with clean water.
