- 1). Mix 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup warm water and 5 drops lemongrass essential oils in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture on counter tops, cupboards or other hard surfaces to remove daily grease and grime.
- 2). Mix 1 cup borax, 1/2 cup salt, and 6 drops essential oils with enough olive oil to make a paste. Use this mixture in place of Clorox soft scrubbing products to clean stains from stove tops, sinks and bathtubs. Apply a small amount of the paste to the surface and rub gently with a microfiber cloth.
- 3). Mix 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and 8 drops tea tree oil in a dark spray bottle. Spray the solution on cutting boards, toilets, counter tops or door knobs to kill bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down over time and with exposure to light. Add more hydrogen peroxide to the solution occasionally or make a new batch.
- 1). Warm 1/4 cup white vinegar in the microwave for 30 seconds in a large, microwavable bowl. Add 1/4 cup borax and stir the solution thoroughly. Add 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and add the mixture to your washing machine as it fills with water. The borax and vinegar remove grease and brighten laundry, while the hydrogen peroxide acts as a mild bleaching product.
- 2). Replace chlorine bleach with oxygenated bleach to remove stains in the laundry. Oxygenated bleach is made from water and oxygen and safely removes stains without the potential health risks associated with chlorine bleach.
- 3). Apply a small amount of lemon juice to stains and set the clothing in the sun for a couple of hours. Launder the clothing as usual. The lemon juice and light from the sun work together to naturally lighten and remove stains. Don't leave clothing in the sun longer than two hours though or the clothing may lighten too much.
