- 1). Attach one end of an 8-wire 10/100Mbps cable to the WAN port on the back of the DSL or cable modem.
- 2). Connect the other end of the cable to the first Ethernet port on a 10/100Mbps hub or switch.
- 3). Connect one end of another Ethernet cable to the network port on the computer.
- 4). Connect the other end of the cable to the second Ethernet port on the hub or switch.
- 5). Attach another computer with another Ethernet cable to the third port on the hub or switch. Follow the same process for any other computers you are connecting to the network.
- 6). Network both computers. Open the "Start" menu and click "Control Panel." Select "Network and Internet" and click "Network and Sharing Center." Click "Set up a connection or network" and select "Set up a wireless router or access point" if the network is wireless. Follow the network wizard to continue setting up the home network.
- 7). Restart both computers. Open the "Start" menu, click "Control Panel" and then "Network and Internet." Look for the networked computers. You should see both computer names in the window, indicating a successful home network.
