- If you have an Excel 2003 workbook in which you want to add more than the maximum number of lines to a spreadsheet, you can open a new tab within the workbook, copy the headings from the original spreadsheet and continue your data entry. Many formulas, such as SUM, allow you to obtain totals and other figures from your complete dataset across multiple spreadsheets.
- Microsoft Support offers a macro program that you can use if you are pasting text files or datasets longer than 65,536 rows. This program automatically splits the file into two or more spreadsheets.
- The best way to add support for more lines of data in your Excel 2003 document is to upgrade your version of Excel. Excel 2007 and Excel 2010 support up to 1,048,576 rows in each spreadsheet. Note that if you open a spreadsheet exceeding 65,536 rows and made in a later version of Excel in Excel 2003, you will see the first 65,536 rows and an error message, "File not loaded completely."
