Top Make-Up Tips For Kid Actors

Kids who love to act and perform in plays, home movies or who are just the life of the party, will need to know these make-up tips.
Whether they are acting in front of a camera or up on a stage, an actor's face needs to be enhanced for the audience to understand the emotional state of their character.
By following these simple make-up tips, kids will shine in their performances.
1.
Long before your performance, make sure to practice applying make-up to create the face of your character.
Once you have achieved the final look, take a digital picture of yourself, then use the photo as a reference tool the day of the performance.
2.
Begin with a complete, high quality make-up kit.
It should include eye shadows, rouge or blush, lip colors, brushes and pencils.
You will also need foundations, or make-up base in a variety of shades.
3.
First, make sure your face is clean and dry.
Next, using make-up pads, apply a liberal amount of foundation or base make-up.
Don't forget to include your throat! 4.
Use a dramatic approach with your blush, eye shadows, liners and lip colors.
This will help the audience understand your facial movements and expressions.
Use a heavier application of make-up such as redder lips, darker eye-liner, and deeper blush.
Eye brows drawn correctly, can give your face added expression and character.
5.
To increase facial contours, use a darker blush or brown powders.
By shadowing the bone structure of your face, you can emphasis age or a character's evil nature.
For a younger character, apply a heavier, light colored foundation which will give your face a flawless look.
6.
To create the face of older character, use a thin tipped brush and water moistened brown shadow, then follow the natural expression lines of your face.
Make sure to trace the furrows between your brows; the lines on either side of your mouth; and the horizontal lines of your forehead.
7.
Just as shadowing is important, so are highlights.
Using a white base make-up or moistened white eye shadow, brush the area of your eyebrow bone, the top of your cheek bone or the ridge or your nose, to increase the dramatic effect of your face.
8.
After the performance, use a gentle but effective cold cream or cleansing product to remove all the make-up from your face.
Have on hand, baby wipes, cotton balls and Q-tips to ensure you clean the creases around your nose and eyes.
Use warm soapy water to clean your brushes.
Discard used make-up pads.
If you follow the above techniques, your made-up face will be sure to convince the audience that you have transformed into a completely different person.
And once you see yourself in the mirror, adorned in your costume and make-up, you will feel ready for the spotlight.
