How to Make a Card for Thanksgiving

    • 1). Cut an 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch sheet of card stock in half horizontally. Fold the remaining pieces in half, so that you have two cards measuring 4 1/4-inches by 5 1/2 inches. If you have purchased blank cards, skip this step.

    • 2). Decorate the front of the card with markers or colored pencils. Orange, brown, green and gold are traditional Thanksgiving colors, but you can use whatever colors you like. Pumpkins, turkeys, leaves, dried corn and Pilgrims are traditional images, but you don't have to use them. Have fun and let your imagination run wild.

    • 3). Write a message inside of the card. This can be as simple as "Happy Thanksgiving!" or as complex and personal as your own poem. Use the ruler as a straight edge to keep your writing straight, and use a pencil held very lightly to write out the message.

    • 4). Go over your message with marker or colored pencil, tracing the light pencil letters. This is the easiest way to keep your words level and straight. Let the marker ink dry thoroughly, or the colored pencil set for a few seconds, and then erase any light pencil marks that may be visible.

    • 5). Attach silk leaves, ribbons or other small, decorative materials to the front of the card with craft glue. Lay the card flat to dry so that no glue seeps through and accidentally seals it closed.
