- 1). Clean the object's surface with soap and water then dry it with a towel. The paint bonds better to a clean surface and should not be handled with oily or soiled hands.
- 2). Apply a coat of Air-Dry PermEnamel Surface Conditioner using a clean, dry brush.
- 3). Tape the design pattern to the backside of the glass so it can show through. When working with tile or ceramic, use the outline or pattern as a reference to freehand paint. Use designs inspired by fabric patterns in the room or locate patterns on craft websites.
- 4). Paint the pattern's larger and background areas using a dry brush. Do not thin the paint with water. Let dry one hour.
- 5). Paint the smaller areas and let dry one hour. Painting these separately help prevent colors from mixing with one another.
- 6). Shade the larger areas, if desired, by floating a slightly darker complimentary shade mixed with a small amount of clear gloss or satin glaze to thin the paint. Concentrate the shading to the edges and thin it out toward the middle.
- 7). Complete the design by outlining the design where desired or directed by the pattern. Some areas may also need highlighting which is done by lightly brushing white or a lighter color over areas to give the illusion of light shining off the painted scene.
- 8). Let the paint dry for one hour and then apply a top coat of clear gloss or satin glaze using a dry brush.
