How to Make a Nest Necklace

    • 1

Unwind a large portion of the bead wire so that you have room to work with it but do not cut it yet. You will want the freedom to use as much or a little as you need, and if you cut the wire you are limiting the amount you can use. Thread the metal wire through the three beads and pull the beads together tightly.

Fold the beads that are strung on the wire into themselves so that they are clustered and slightly overlapping, as shown in the picture. Begin winding the wire around the back of the beads so that you are forming a small circular disk out of the wire behind the beads.

    • 3). Wind the the wire around the sides of the beads now, imitating the shape of a bird's nest. Unwind 6 inches more of wire and cut it with the wire cutters. Loop a section of wire around the next shape so that it crosses the flow of the wire in a perpendicular shape. Pull the wire tight and repeat this on the opposite side of the next shape. Repeat this two more times so that you have four small loops of wire holding the shape of your nest tight.

Cut a small piece of wire (1½ inches at most) and loop this through a strand of wire near the outside edge of the nest. Bend this wire into a small circle. This will act as your clasp. Thread your necklace chain or leather thong or whatever you desire to hang the nest necklace from; then, using a pair of pliers, pinch the clasp closed as tightly as possible.
