- 1). Place an eraser in the middle of a white piece of paper. Draw around the edges of the eraser with a pen. Remove the eraser and draw a picture inside the marked area. For best results, use a simple image with thick, straight lines. They are easier to cut. This is the image that will be on your stamp.
- 2). Put a piece of tracing paper over the image and trace over the lines using a pencil.
- 3). Turn the tracing paper over and put it on top of the eraser. Press down on the tracing paper and use a waterproof marker to draw over the lines. The image should be transferred onto the eraser. For the stamp to work the image on the eraser must be a mirror image. Hold the eraser up in front of a mirror. If the image you see is the right way around it is correct.
- 4). Use a linoleum cutter to remove the pieces of eraser that are not part of your image (i.e. the parts that you do not want to see on the paper.) For best results, cut sideways because it gives greater definition to the image. Use a brush to sweep away the leftover pieces of eraser.
- 5). Press the eraser (image side down) into the stamp pad. Repeat this step two or three times in different areas of the stamp pad to avoid the grain in the stamp pad being printed too.
- 6). Press the eraser (image side down) onto a piece of white paper. Lift the stamp up. Your image should be left on the paper.
