Safe "rattleworm" hunting includes decapitation of the bait.rattlesnake image by Michael Shake from Fotolia.com
Locate a nest of rattlesnakes, checking hot areas with rock piles and rock face cliffs. Put your leather gloves on. Catch one using your forked stick to trap i and a machete to kill it. Scoop it up using the net and drop it into a gunny sack. - 2). Catching the snakes alive makes better bait. This is NOT recommended. Use the machete to decapitate your bait -- the cloth sack breathes so the catch stays fresh. Catch snakes for bait using these same tools for any safer, nonvenomous bait.
