- 1). Cut the elastic to be 1 inch smaller than the doll's waist.
- 2). Sew together the crotch or middle seam of the front and back pieces, right sides together, 3/8 inch from the edge using a basic straight stitch. If there is a separate gusset, sew the gusset to the front and back pieces of the panty. The bigger side of the gusset goes to the back.
- 3). Sew together the side seams, left side seam of the front to left side seam of the back, 3/8 inch from the edge. Do the same for the right side seams.
- 4). Sew the elastic in an "X" shape with the elastic overlapping itself by one inch. The "X" should be sewn on top of the one-inch overlap and should be sewn from top-left corner to bottom-right corner and top-right to bottom-left corner.
- 5). Sew the elastic to the waist of the right side of the panties, matching the top of the elastic to the top edge of the fabric using a 3-step zig-zag stitch. When sewing, stretch the elastic and fabric together as far as they will go, then stitch.
- 6). Fold the elastic toward the inside of the panties, folding directly underneath the elastic edge.
- 7). Stretch the fabric as above then sew down the elastic to the inside of the panty using a 3-step zig zag.
- 8). Cut 2 pieces of elastic, each the measurement of the top of the thigh of the doll's leg.
- 9). Repeat Steps 4 through 7 for each of the leg openings, applying elastic to the leg of the panty.

If you are making a bloomer, the elastic should be applied 1/2 inch above the leg opening edge on the inside or wrong side of the panty using a 3-step zig-zag. Finish the hem by folding it toward the inside of the panty 1/4 inch and stitching down using a straight stitch 1/8 inch from the fold edge.
