How to Calculate My Trimesters

    • 1). To calculate your stage of development use the date of conception. If you are not sure, add two weeks to the first day of your last period. The first stage lasts from conception to the 12th week of your pregnancy, and the second from the 12th week until the 27th. From the 27th week to delivery is your third trimester. This is the easiest method to use, as it uses whole weeks.

    • 2). To use the gestational trimester method, divide the 40 weeks of pregnancy by three. This can be inaccurate, as pregnancy can be longer or shorter than 40 weeks, although doctors and midwives commonly use this method. The second trimester starts at 13 weeks 3 days, and the third starts at 26 weeks 6 days.

    • 3). To use the conception-based method, divide the post-conception development time of 38 weeks by three and add two weeks. This indicates the first trimester ends at 14 weeks, 5 days, and the third trimester begins at 27 weeks, 3 days.

    • 4). Write down the dates your trimesters begin and the method you used to calculate them. This is helpful when talking to medical professionals or family.
