- 1). Squirt a small dollop of styling mousse into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together and work the mousse through your hair. The mousse will add texture to your hair, and help it stay in the French braid.
- 2). Brush your hair to detangle and make it smooth.
- 3). Separate a 2-inch section of hair at your left temple and divide the section of hair into thirds. Begin braiding the three sections by crossing the left section over the center, and then the right section over the center.
- 4). Cross the left section over the center and include a small amount of hair from the loose hair beside it. Repeat the same process with the right, including a small amount of hair from the loose hair beside.
- 5). Continue French braiding the hair along the left side of your head, until you come to the center back of your neck. Clip the braid temporarily with the jaw clip, to hold it while you braid the right side of your hair.
- 6). Repeat the same French braiding process starting at your right temple and continue braiding, until you come to the point where you clipped the left half of your hair.
- 7). Unclip your hair and hold all of your hair tightly at the nape of your neck.
- 8). Secure the hair tightly with the elastic hair band to make a low ponytail.
- 9). Spray hairspray lightly over the French braid, to hold it securely.
