Super Short and Super Cute Celebrity Hair of 2013
Summer's a-heating up and with the humidity come the sweaty foreheads and necks beckoning to ruin your fresh blowout. Of course there is an answer to this uncomfortable problem and that is to go for the chop. Taking fashion cues from the stylish celebs that have taken it all off -- their hair that is -- here's some inspiration for your brave endeavour towards the chop...
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway famously sheared off her locks to play the role of Fantine in Les Miserables. But though filming on the movie wrapped more than a year ago, she's still sporting a chic crop, aided by her A-lister hair stylist Adir Abergel. Now, Hathaway's particular hair cut by Abergel runs at around $600, but interestingly enough ABC News recently ran a piece were they asked people on the street to tell the difference between a $600 cut and a $28.
Guess what? Nobody really could, so just take this snap of Hathaway to your regular stylist and ask them to copy it for a fraction of the price.
Carrey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan's famous pixie crop makes her the perfect person to play Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming The Great Gatsby. It's just so retro and flapper inspired -- especially when slicked back -- that it will come as no surprise when salon-goers begin to ask for "The Carey Cut."
Emma Watson
As soon as filming on Harry Potter wrapped, Emma Watson couldn't wait to hack away at her Hermione curls. The results was a short and sweet barnet, which she often decorated with a cute headband or slicked back with a severe side part. Now the cut is growing out gracefully and, as you can see, is just long enough to be tucked behind ears or pinned back for a half up, half down style.
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron is a femmebot, a superhuman woman who can pull off practically any look and still appear gorgeous. Most recently, for her new movie Mad Max: Fury Road, Theron was required to make like Demi Moore and shave her head for bad ass screen cred. She obliged and the result was this barely-there hair style. Yes, it is incredibly short, but Theron still owns and has no regrets about going for the chop.
She told Ryan Seacrest on the recent Oscar's red carpet, "It's the most freeing thing, I highly recommend it. I think every woman should do it." I honestly think she looks like Sharon Stone.
Maggie Gyllenhaal recently went for an easy, brezzy, mumsy cut for a new movie, Frank, in which she's appearing. Debuting the 'do in March, the Won't Back Down actress told the NY Post, "I cut it like a bowl for a movie where I play this really wild, super out-there musician, and I felt it was right for the movie." I don't see any kind of bowl cut now and, in fact, it looks pretty cute. It's definitely a wash 'n' go kind of style that requires minimal effort and looks great even when you've just woken up in the morning.
We all let out a small gasp when we first saw the twitpics Miley Cyrus posted of her flowing long hair about to be snipped. She captioned the shocking photos with "Never felt more me in my whole life," but forget feeling like herself, I think she happens to look more like Robyn. Or maybe Butters from South Park. Anyway, a few months later and Cyrus is still sporting her cropped style, albeit with a bit more of a rock chick quiff.
I'd also like to mention that since the drastic haircut she's been having serious relationship problems with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, but of course, there's no way the two things could be related right?
