How to Replace a Headlight Bulb on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler

    • 1). Prop open and secure the Wrangler's hood. Disconnect the black negative battery cable with the socket wrench.

    • 2). Unscrew the headlight bezel with the Phillips-head screwdriver and set it aside. Unscrew the retaining ring with the screwdriver and pull out the retaining ring.

    • 3). Slide the headlight assembly forward and unplug the electrical connector from the back. Remove the old bulb.

    • 4). Plug the electrical connector into the back of the new assembly and put the light inside the assembly. Secure the retaining ring and with the screws and Phillips-head screwdriver. Screw the headlight bezel back into place and then repeat the steps detailed above for the other headlight on your Jeep Wrangler.

    • 5). Replace the negative battery cable, securing it with the socket wrench. Close the Jeep's hood and test out the new headlights.
