How to Replace a Battery Box

    • 1). Remove the old battery and battery box to reveal the metal tray.

    • 2). Take a stiff wire bristled brush or a hobby sander and clean any rust on the tray. If you are using a wire brush, rub vigorously until the rust has been removed.

    • 3). Get a rust inhibitor and use it to paint the metal that you have just cleaned. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines.

    • 4). Take the new tray, which comes with fixing brackets. Fix the brackets onto the place where the old tray was. Secure it with nuts and bolts and drill it to further secure it.

    • 5). Place the tray on the brackets. Line it up to make sure that it fits. Take the nuts and bolts and push them through the holes. Tighten the bolts with the drill.

    • 6). Clean the inside of the new battery box with a cloth. Place the new battery inside the box.

    • 7). Connect the positive battery cable to the positive terminal. Connect the negative cable to the negative terminal. Put the box cover on. Secure the battery with the nylon strap that comes with the battery box.
