- 1). Place the acrylic-encased gold in the glass container. Fill the container with the organic solvent until the liquid level is ½ inch above the gold. Do not use a plastic container, as it may begin to melt as well.
- 2). Cover the container with the glass or ceramic cover. This will prevent the organic solvent from evaporating. Do not use a plastic cover. The fumes may melt a plastic cover.
- 3). Allow the gold to soak for at least 12 hours. Put on the gloves. Remove the gold using the tweezers or tongs, and place it on a paper towel. Use a paper towel to wipe off the excess acrylic and organic solvent.
- 4). Wipe away any excess acrylic still left on the gold, using a paper towel dipped in the organic solvent. Repeat the entire process if a thick coating is still left on the gold.
